A Brief History of Attila the Hun
The circumstances of the hunnish destruction of the burgundian kingdom were quite different than the epic poem would have us believe. The romans had enlisted the powerful hun army to help them do away with a troublesome king on their rhineland border. In the centuries after attila's death, western european artists would often depict him in paintings and woodcuts as the devil incarnate. These artists would often make him look like a demonic goat.
