CNN's John Defterios has been playing chess for decades. He won the World Championship in 1995, beating Sergei Asopov by two games to one. The game ended in a draw because of an ill-advised move that was later analyzed and changed into something more favorable than it had been before. But he still went on to win the title as world No. 1.
