I think some of the missteps we end up kind of taking as investors is that we forget and stop assessing the capability of the founders to build a sustainable business. I think all venture capitalist people like us are trying to play for large gains. By large gains, we want our portfolio companies to be unicorns or decagons - which by virtue of that puts massive pressure on founders to deliver a business they may not have ever wanted to build. And that creates massive problems later on when you execute such a strategy and raise a lot of money and burn a lot of cash.
