The Economic Impact of Race, Ethnic, and Educational Health Inequities in the United States

In 2018, the estimated economic burden of racial and ethnic health inequities was between 421 and 451 billion dollars. The black population and Native Hawaiian and other Pacific Islander population experienced the highest per capita economic costs due to health inequities. Most of the education-related economic burden was accounted for disproportionately by adults with no more than a high school diploma or a general educational development, GED equivalent credential.
