What Is a Vacancy in the NHS?
There are about 133,000 staff vacancies in the NHS in England. But what counts as a vacancy? The number of roles the NHS wants to fill with long-term staff under its current plans, but can't. As well as permanent staff, the NHS also uses temporary staff, such as agency staff.
