The January 6 committee is a legislative body, not a law enforcement one. The first count for obstructing an official proceeding of the United States relates to the attempt to interfere with Congress' count of electoral college votes. If he were actually tried and ultimately convicted of having committed that particular crime, he'd be unable ever to stand for office again in the United States. But it should be said, we are a long way from that.
