Britain, as we said earlier, just did not have a big enough army on its own. German principalities started offering troops to the British in August of 1775. And for American units, the Hessians include Yeager or Hunter companies. These were foresters and huntsmen, and their role was sort of like elite Rangers. So these were really well trained soldiers who were paid to fight.
