The week end was invented in the nineteeth century. Sunday was more a day for sunday observance. There were newspapers that would be bought by public houses called the greenun or pinkuncen paper. And even if you couldn't make it to the ground, not everybody could afford it. It's always when you haven't an awkward taxi ride or some iits.
