The Distinction Between Pain and Harm

Plato argued that reason is the highest good. But does this mean we should fear death? Epicurus thinks there is an objective truth in which you can pursue happiness and avoid pain, but it's not always possible to do both at once. The idea of being able to violate a social contract between friends would be seen as violating moral principles for all non-human animals. We don't need to kick a dog in a forest before doing something morally wrong when I've got nothing else better to do.
