They kind of then preside over the cathedral at services between 27 and 28 December. Eventually the practice is brought to an end by Henry VIII - one of our least-fun kings. But I love the idea of a small boy suddenly being given a really serious job. It feels like the plot of a Hallmark Christmas movie.
