i've wondered about this with things like investment banks where you have people working you know 80 hours a week. It seems totally nonsensical to me just on a productivity basis definitely and i think a very big part of it is inefficiency. Most of that time goes to social media usage news websites and my personal favorite, people anonymously admit to spending time on finding other jobs.
