How Do You Know What You're Listening To?

The human ear is able to listen to everything from 30 hertz to something like 20,000 with some sense of what's going on above there. But I just think of that range of frequencies as a space. That's the space that you've got to play with. So really it's just knowledge through screwing around for all these years. These programs are pretty logical and if you spend years using them you kind of realize you can make any sound that you can dream of.
