"There are some shows where I'm like the filmmaking, the directing and the visual aspects of the show are transcending material that is okay or maybe a little undercooked," he says. "I just don't think it's possible to make grand sweeping gestures about [a] writer's meeting ... But no matter what, it's a visual medium... By the way, when they didn't prioritize the visuals, it sucked."
