Ma Barker is the Machine Gun toting Criminal Mastermind, who also happens to be an old lady. She's unassuming and a little old lady, but then she's also very, very quote unquote bad. An extremely sensationalized 1936 Kansas City Star article said that she began her life with a hymn book in her hand and she died clutching a machine gun. That imagery came from Jay Edgar Hoover himself. It's factually very dubious.
