The Story of Chanakya
Alexander was forced to withdraw back to babylon and put his power base there. And after he died, various generals of his army set up small sort of war lord statelets around what had been alexander's empire. This included small sort of kingdoms and principalities in the indus valley. So the threat of alexander’s invasion actually forced a new unification that then led to the high classical era in the first real empires of india.
