The Benjamites and the Concubine
A Levite sent his concubine to a town in Israel, where she was raped and beaten to death. The men who did this were the leaders among the Benjamites; they later went on war with other tribes. David Frum: God doesn't endorse such things but these are result of people turning away from him. He says that sometimes obedience is used to teach us faithfulness to God not our desires.
