The Role of Motherhood in Girls' Outcomes
Many of the women in our book that we spoke to turned to at home childcare. The care work within a poor family was gendered. It became clear throughout their interviews that it often fell disproportionately on the female children. This is a feminist issue that takes a backseat in the current women's rights movement.
