The Relationship of Faith and Obedience in Romans
Paul is referring to all works, perhaps, that are done up prior to the moment of inversion. So he's talking about pre-conversion works. And James is talking about the role of works post-conversion. But A, option A is, so I only find it in the dark over here, is to focus on the timing of these works. That would be one way of understanding it. Another way is seeing the kind of works as being the distinction between obedience and good works.
