The word mistletoe translates from the old English to something like poop stick. St. Boniface was moving through Germany and came across this tribe where he was converting people to Christianity. Some trees were believed to have a spirit called a Hamadryad that lived inside of it. The Christmas tree is now your symbol. It's the tree of the Christ child.
