Handel's score was written in three weeks, some scholars estimate like 24 daysha. That would mean that handel was writing about 15 notes a minute. He said he was just so inspired to do it. The music conveys the grandeur of god - this is the one for whom we have been waiting. If you're unfamiliar with the messiah, this christmas, do yourself a favor and listen to the messiah instead of fighting with your aunt over politics at the dinner table.
