When Something Didn't Happen the Way I Expected, You Have a Disconnect
The disconnect principle says that when something doesn't go the way you expected, your best response is we have a disconnect. It's a way of taking the situation, while focusing on the situation, not the person. So instead of having these negative feelings and thoughts about how someone else made a mistake, you're just saying whoops, it didn't happen the way I expected. And it opens the floor for an objective conversation about what did happen.
