In 1974, Karen Carpenter and her brother Richard were in the middle of their super stardom. They had been at this level of fame for about four years when an article by Tom Nolan follows them around as they go on part of their endless tour. The carpenters are still like very much in a family unit and very much of a unit with each other. It's hard to tell someone how to live their life even if you know them, let alone if you've never seen them. You have to handle each one in a different manner.
