The Battle of Single Damayo
Celebrations began spontaneously 18 62. Latinos organized the first regional network of latino community political organizations called the juntas patriotacas mexicanas. Every month, there would be three or four speeches, and almost every speech would point back to the battle of puebla on sinco demayo as their inspiration. So it's in these meetings that the battle of single damayo is talked about, honored and kept alive. They just proliferated. That on for nearly six years, until 18 67, till maximilian was finally captured. But this holiday really has so much more history and meaning than many people realize.
