The Value of Reducing Risk by a Fraction F
The more pessimistic R you are about starting levels of risk, the less important reducing risk is. 100% reduction in risk per century is going to get infinite value here. So we at least have the possibility of astronomical value here. But it's something of a bare possibility given reasonable empirical assumptions.
