The History of the Balkans
In 1389, the Ottomans defeated Serbia at Kosovo. In 1396, the Bulgarian kingdom falls to the Ottoman Empire. Much of Greece, the Peloponnese, falls to the Ottoman between 1423 and 1466. The Russo-Turkish wars started in the 1700s; Russia gets a Bessarabia today.
