The Federal Reserve Board's Reluctance to Raise Interest Rates
Liz Truss and her Chancellor were actually trying to force the bank into an interest rate rise. Now, the bank is back in the position of having to resist that. If you raise interest rates too far there is a very real risk of financial market instability. The government's objective must be to reach inflation rates comparable with those of our major competitors by next year.
