The Effects of Soy Polyphenols on Metabolic Absorption

Isoflavones are not well absorbed like most phenolic compounds. So many of them do make their way down to the colon. In about 25% of Westerners, they host intestinal bacteria that converts one of the isoflavones in soy beans called dasene into an isoflavonoid similar to aqua. When you consume fermented foods, fermented soy foods such as miso, natto, and tempeh, theIsoflavones to varying degrees are in a different form.
