A spate of novels in which South Asian men can't come out as adhering to a contemporary British model of individualistic sexuality. Can you put such narratives into context and explain their wider connections to the war and terror and criminalisation of Muslim communities? Yeah absolutely so in many ways these novels were the kind, the novels and memoirs of the sort of the spark of the projects. They're all really about wanting not to have arranged marriages and instead to get jobs in the media and marry white women.
