How to Become a Fund Manager
Brokers are just trying to look for the other side of the line so if they have a buyer or a seller they will send out their flow. The research desk is the best starting point because you're learning the valuations and your job is to speak to the institutions. Once you're in a firm it's easier to move internally at least in my experience that's what I've seen. Even if it's on the on the retail desk as a deal as assistant and your job pops up on the research desk then you know you can put your case forward yeah.
