The Strange New World Within the Bible

What I have to say may bear primarily upon my perception of the situation in the United States and not in Britain but you can make some translations where they are appropriate. So I want to start out by trying to set the problem as I perceive it on the one hand with a serious view of scripture and on the other hand with a comment on what I perceive our ministerial situation to be. To ask what it means to have the Bible entrusted to us as the resident interpreter by which I do not mean that we have a monopoly on interpretation. One ought not to excessively accommodate the Bible to the rationality and consciousness of the world but one needs to let the Bible have its own awkward affrontive say.
