The Drawbacks of Bubble Charts
A bubble chart is kind of a bulked up version of a scatter plot. They're probably most strongly associated with the late hans rosling, who used them to great effect in vidios for the b b c and for a couple of different ted talks. The main drawback of bubble charts is their complexity. These charts ask a reader to keep track of a lot of variables for each data point at the same time. You can get a lot out of it, but it requires that the viewer put a lot into it as well.
