Twist and Shout by the Isley's
Ronald Eisley's Twist and Shout was his first mainstream hit. The record made the top 20 on the pop chart, and number 2 in R&B. It might even have done better, but for an unfortunate coincidence. Do You Love Me by The Contours had a very similar rising vocal hook. But it's hard not to think that the two records being so similar, must have eaten into the market for both records.
