The Anime Industry Is Exploiting
In Japan, where anime is a multi-billion dollar industry, it has become almost synonymous with exploitation. Even with huge titles like Attack on Titan animators are often left penniless as they spend hours incorporating painstaking detail into all of their work for nothing in return. People have been hospitalized for exhaustion and many fall asleep at their desks. The studio Madhouse even got in massive trouble for violating labor rights after employees complained that they had been working about 400 hours a month while the Japanese limit for overtime is about 100 hours.
