Shakespeare is a great writer because he can take incredibly abstract words those words that we use most frequently. He makes these words which are the unsung heroes of syntax and he takes them and he suffuses them with endless meaning. The compressed tragedy of Macbeth contains everything that Shakespeare had learnt from his previous plays. We see that Shakespeare weaves a web of complex temporalities that shift around us before we've even started to get our bearings.
