The Elephants, the Only Major Battle of Hannibal's Great Victory
This is really the only major battle, certainly, of hannibal's great victories, where elephants play any role at all. He probably would have won without them. The roman infantry in the centre are fully engaged and the flanks have been stripped. So this double envelop enat appeared tosenus is being replayed again, but with infantry. This time he sprung his trap up,. poped mago and his strike force of two thousand like a substitute in a football match with fresh legs. They come running on to the battlefield and attack the romans from the rear. And this is just too much for the roman. They've had enough.
