A city is not just people that happen to occupy the same space, and they're not even just people who have a sort of non-aggression pact with one another. There have to be bound together by a shared goal in order to count as a state in order to be a city. And so when people say, you know, this influx of more and more people from outside the country is damaging and dangerous for us, they're not saying it's because bad brown people are bad. They could come from like anywhere; they could be white, they could be purple, I don't care. If you have lived according to the ways of that city, it takes effort to assimilate
