Is Biochar Creating a More Pure Version of Openly Burning the Field?

The soils of the great plains were built by millennia of grass land fires. biochar is fundamentally a kind of recreating that process and re introducing fire to our agricultural soils. An open burn returns maybe one or two % of the biomass carbon as pyrogenic carbon. Biochar production, it's more like 50%. So, ye, it's really just supercharging that natural process. Would a farmer eventually want to practise both nature base practices for their soils? Yes. There's no reason you shouldn't.
