When tarrick first came in, he was able to use his mobile phone. As they got sicker, and as we used the different masks and hoods that we were trying to increase their oxygen levels, that communication became more and more difficult. The most important thing of effectively anesitizing a patient to go on a breathing machine was a calm, restful surrounding environment with quiet, reassuring voices.
