The Coronavirus Pandemic in Hong Kong
Hong Kongers had seen and experienced violence that couldn't be erased. People's views on China's role in the city, whether for or against, had hardened significantly. But then people started hearing whispers of a new law set to be passed at Beijing's annual parliament session. A law that would change everything. It was called the National Security Law. In this day, January 1, 2020, it spelled the end of the protests as we knew them.
