The Gnomes in the Forest
This clearing is where all the gnome children of a certain age come to for story time, or to learn something of our history. We used to have human children visit us during this time of year, and I think that map was how their teacher found this magical place. And so they opened the trunk, its contents shining by some magic to reveal inside. A great pile of books. Bix, Boo Boo and Bluebell said, Yes, books contain the greatest treasure of all, stories and knowledge.
