Is There a Difference Between Automated and Manual?

Can you imagine a scenaria were your company, a group, automates so much that the dets are un unable to actually manually support something when a real non automatic problem occurs? Do we mean that because things are just so complex that you couldn't possibly hope to do it? I would say a mix of so complex, and also you're just so far away from that.
