Are Engineers More Important Now or Less Important?

Johannes: Engineers need to sit at every level of the organization. I think we're converging to the realization that engineers are entrepreneurs and have to be, especially in FinTech world. The introduction of microservices has been huge for the industry because it allows very small engineering teams to own a small subset of services which make up a much bigger system. And by doing that you're actually able to have a lot more ownership over kind of the work that you're delivering.
