Evolution Is Getting More Complex, but What Does That Tell Us?

The notion that evolution is headed in the direction of increasing complexity doesn't tell us much at all. I hate the notion that it's adequate to say that evolution is getting more complex. That's almost as vacuous as saying that everything is connected. The critical issue is how does it become more complex? In what ways is it becoming more complex? And it's only when you understand this that evolutionary theory becomes meaningful for human beings.
