The Socket API, Is It as Clean as the File API?

Early operating systems didn't run that many applications, and so they had actually allocated low memory locations in the machine. When you typed to command, it did an indirect jump through that location. So if we had done the file api, we could have transitioned application names, got well known porch, and no one would have noticed.
