Flight 11 21 lined up on runway one two and was clear for take off at about noon. Pilot uttered an expression of surprise, followed by two ground proximity warning system sounds. The plane struck the ocean surface at 12 o one and 20 seconds. 14 bodies were recovered during the rescue operation,. as well as some airplane debris, including parts of the right main gear and seat cushions. Several days later, at a depth of 700 meters, a fifteenth body was recovered during operations to recover the flight recorder.
