The History of the Indo-Parthians

The coins of Strato II are perfect representations of the Indo-Greek at this time. They feature an extremely aged and sunken-cheeked man paired with almost indecipherable Greek lettering. In roughly 20 AD, a new figure emerges from the coin records, a ruler known as Gondofaris who controlled much of the Indus Valley until approximately 45. He is the first of the so-called Indo-Parthian rulers - though how he or his kingdom were connected to the Parthian Empire is not entirely clear.
