Transitioning to New Jobs and Skills

Queensland has the lowest unemployment rate ever, but only 65% of adults are actively seeking work. There just aren't enough people in the region to feed new industries like renewable energy construction or ongoing manufacturing opportunities. We need to look after workers that are currently working in coal-fired electricity plants or associated coal mining because these industries are in decline. The big question is around skilling people up. How do we talk to high school students about convincing them to take on courses where they're going to learn those skills when those industries don't exist?
