How to Measure Goodness in Machine Learning

A lot of the machine learning I'm familiar with has a well-defined like objective function or loss function, something mathematically you're trying to go for. How do you go into and take more soft science approaches to measuring something from your domain? Very interesting question Yes. So there's a spectrum of how we actually measure a level of goodness.
