1 Corinthians 14, as we listen in on what Paul's doing here, it's also going to guide all of us in what are tongues and how do they work in the life of the church today. The person who speaks in a tongue is not speaking to people, but to God; since no one understands them, they speak in mysteries in the spirit. On the other hand, the person who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, their encouragement, and their consolation.
