Is This Chastisement?
John Piper: I think more times than not, Christians who aren't comfortable with suffering are uncomfortable with it for two reasons. One is they may view godly chastisement as suffering, you know? Their own sin creating circumstances that require repentance between them and the Lord,. And so there's a conflation of those ideas where I've sinned and now or sinned against another, sinned against my spouse. Is that suffering? How do I compartmentalize that?
